After snow scuttled our original plans to play a Light of Day Foundation family concert at Crossroads in Garwood in January, we have a makeup date of February 4 for the show.
Most of the lineup is the same, but Miss Nina couldn’t make the new date, so our good friend (and producer) Baze – from Baze and His Silly Friends will add his brand of zesty family fun to our lineup on the new date. Harmony supergroup The Campfire Flies (made up of members of The Cucumbers, The Thousand Pities, Speed the Plough) will headline. My own Jungle Gym Jam will bring high energy Jersey style rock-n-roll for kids & families, and Yosi will get big laughs from little people with his great stage presence and musicality.
The Light of Day Winterfest spreads out over Asbury Park, north Jersey, Philadelphia, Rockland County and more during the month of January; our makeup date now extends the benefit concert series into a new month – at what is a new venue for the series of events.
Tickets are $15 per person; children under age 1 admitted free.
Show is at Crossroads at 78 North Avenue in Garwood, NJ on Sat. Feb. 4 at 3PM. Doors at 2:30.

New Semester starts Jan. 10 in West Orange
Our “My Grown-up and Me” class is all set to give you and your kids a wonderful, funny, beneficial bonding time where your kids will play shakers and rhythm sticks and dance with colorful ribbons. We’ll set popular children’s books to music and we’ll throw in plenty of “it-takes-one-to-know-one” parenting humor that I’m sure you’ll relate to.
We’ve held two pilot classes already and the course evaluation feedback has been promising and has helped us fine-tune the flow of the course and make just the right adjustments to accommodate both ends of the intended age group (6 months to 3 years).
Class takes place on Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Church of the Holy Innocents in West Orange, NJ for the next 12 weeks. You can save money by registering for the whole term ($150, which works out to $12.50 per session) or register for individual “drop-in sessions” for $15 each.
We’re doing an online Concert Window benefit instead.
The snow has gotten the better of us today and we’re postponing the Light of Day Family Concert scheduled for the Crossroads this afternoon. A makeup date is in the works.
Our Concert Window show will be at 3:30 PM. It’s on a pay-what-you-want basis and all proceeds (other than what Concert Window keeps) will go to Light of Day Foundation.
It’s a 30-minute live, online show and we hope it helps you have a more enjoyable snowy Saturday in.

Since I was in my early 20s and falling in love with the acoustic guitar, I’ve been coming to Montclair, New Jersey to participate in open mic nights and exchange energy with other creative people. This artsy town has always held a special place in my heart.
Imagine my excitement when Amy got a job offer in Montclair a decade later and we started house hunting here. Interestingly, Amy has deep family ties to Montclair. Her mother Rhoda grew up here. Her grandfather Sam Walensky was a co-owner of the Levi’s jeans store on the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Pine Street, which is now a daycare center.
Here’s a Spotify playlist of tunes coming out of the Montclair, NJ music scene.
